This website is a redesign for KZYX&Z public radio with a strong emphasis on ease of maintenance, which is done in-house by volunteers.

KZYX&Z is run on public support, and consequently, does not have a budget for a web designer or web design software. The website was a volunteer effort built in conjunction with Colored Horse Studios and Black Bear Press. The purpose of this project was to build a site that is easily modifiable by random volunteers who have varying degrees of web experience. Another factor to take into consideration was the size of the site, especially the continually updated programming schedule, each dj's page and all of the intermediary links throughout the site. We wanted to find an orderly way for this information to be displayed and easily modified.

The look is based on a radio dial. Each page is set up in such a way that a volunteer could easily update the content of the central portion of that page. The most difficult challenge we had was the programming schedule. We came up with a design that would allow for the varying time blocks for each show without creating a page the was too complicated to view or modify. Each page is a form, which has a pull down menu at the top and bottom of the page, allowing the user to select the daily schedule she or he wishes to view.
