The c.o. Packard House is a Bed and Breakfast in Mendocino. The website reflects the look of the inn, which is is heavily decorated with an eclectic arrangement of artwork, faux finishing, tapestries and furniture both modern and antique.

The first challenge was to create a site that exudes the same look and feel one would get when staying as a guest, yet not create a look that is busy to the point of distraction. Secondly, there are many bed and breakfasts in Mendocino and California so information pertaining to the different facets of the c.o. Packard House and the town of Mendocino needed to be represented within the site so that it can be used as a central location for planning an entire trip to Mendocino.

The site is placed in a frameset for ease of navigation since it is so busy. In addition, there is navigation on the bottom of each page. Since this site is so graphic intensive, many of the pictures used in latter parts of the site are placed at the bottom of a previous page with a dimension of one pixel by one pixel in order to reduce loading time. In addition to information pertaining to the inn such as room rates and sample menus, we decided to include supplemental information that would be of interest to prospective guests such as a list of places to dine, local activities, special events, and the weather forecast.
